“And remember, what's it marked with? Relationship. I talked about this last week. If you disciple somebody, right, this is not mechanical, it's not forced. You want to have a real relationship. I'll I'll share where I failed. I failed in this. Alright. One time I was, oh, probably at least ten years ago, my first church, I was talking to a guy, maybe a young adult, trying to work on an issue he had. And he stopped me midway through and said, pastor Scott, I feel like I'm a project. No, wait a minute now. I'm I'm giving you the word of God. I'm challenging you. I'm rebuking you. And I'm like, but whether he was right to say that or not, I had to step back and say, yeah, if I were in his shoes, I probably would feel like a project. Because we just didn't have that relationship going where he could really, you know, know me and trust me. And I was probably being too little too like, hey, you gotta change this, you gotta do this. And he felt like a project. Now, I understand what he was saying. It's like, hey, maybe I should've built up some trust, just engage him in friendship before, you know. And and, yes, we need to challenge each other. But that remember I said last week. Right? Discipleship without relationship is what? Harassment.”

God, I've done right. I've held up my end of the bargain. What is going on? Why would you allow such a thing? He could he could try to assert that he does not deserve this kind of trial. Because our relationship with God is not based on some mutually beneficial business contract where we kinda hold up our end of the bargain by doing certain good things and God is responsible to make sure life is easy. That's not our basis with God. No. Our basis is not our merit, but God's grace. And so David, he prays, God, be gracious to me.”
