Types of churches in Redding

Charismatic & Revival Churches

Redding is known for a strong charismatic stream emphasizing expressive worship, healing prayer, and a “revival” culture. These congregations often draw young adults and visitors year-round, with modern music, extended worship times, and active prayer teams around Hilltop and east-side venues.

Liturgical Churches in Redding

Traditional parishes in established neighborhoods like Garden Tract, Lake Redding, and the Westside follow set liturgies with sacraments, vestments, and choral music. They tend to be multi-generational, offering reverent worship, weekday services, and community life tied to the liturgical calendar.

Spanish-Language & Multicultural Churches

Redding’s bilingual congregations offer Spanish-language services or simultaneous translation, especially around downtown, the Churn Creek corridor, and south-side areas. They serve immigrant and second-generation families with ESL classes, cultural celebrations, and ministries that bridge English- and Spanish-speaking members.

Family-Friendly Redding Churches

Many congregations in East and North Redding—near Enterprise, Shasta View, and Lake Redding neighborhoods—prioritize kids’ programs, youth groups, and parent support. Expect safe check-in, weekend activities timed around local sports and outdoor life at the river and nearby lakes, and practical teaching geared to busy families.

Sermon clips from Redding churches

65s
“Chapter six is about needs. Chapter seven is about dreams. Chapter six is I'm to approach him as a father because I'm confident as a son he cares for my needs. But chapter seven says, I need to persist in prayer. Why? Persistence in prayer is not to change him. Persistence in prayer changes me. Why do I need changing? Because I am praying for something that's bigger than my capacity to steward. The persistence in prayer shapes me much like a baby chick in a in a shell who has to fight its way out of that shell. It's it's actually what means that chick is going to live after it's fully hatched because it's the fight out of the shell that helps the circulation in its limbs to actually survive once it's out.”
52s
“Don't be subject to your own anger, be subject to God's word. Let God's word control and direct and lead and inform us. We must therefore, as he says, rid rid ourselves of all the moral filth, the rank growth. It's kind of like weeding. Have you ever had to weed like a patch of dirt? Did you ever just weed it once and you're like, I'm done. A couple weeks later there's more. It is a constant process And if good seed is going to to not be choked out by weeds, we are constantly in the Holy Spirit according to God's word being shown areas in our life that are out of bounds, that are out of line, that we are constantly doing this.”
47s
“And, and that little rubber bandage was tight and it just cut off all supply. And eventually, it just fell off. And that's what happens to any member that has supply cut off. Come on. The human body is actually a prophetic picture of the nature of community. As we live because we're connected. Yes. Yes. Live, we thrive. Our measure of life is actually in many ways due to our connection with people.”
62s
“He never ran into a storm that he blessed. He never ran into a problem like that. He says, well, just bring destruction. It'll teach them to pray. That's how the church sometimes does it, but that's not how he did it. On earth as it is in heaven. So here's this prayer, and I oftentimes will wake up in the night and I pray this throughout the night, then I'll I'll lay there in bed and I just pray, kingdom of God, come. Will of God be done on earth in my home, on earth in my body, on earth in my family, on earth in this city as it is in heaven. It needs to be prayed. It needs to be declared and then followed with radical obedience.”
44s
“Don't be shocked when the promise over your life is what receives the greatest opposition. God wants to reveal the strength of his word, number one, but number two, he wants to reveal himself as the rewarder when you are faced with an option. Do I believe this word or do I believe an alternate reality? The reward comes for those who stick to his word. So the second temptation, the one that Jesus faced was if you're the son of God. This identity as sons and daughters of God is absolutely essential because you think different, you you pray different, your expectations, your dreams are different.”
40s
“You and me in persistence and prayer, sometimes it's for weeks, sometimes it's for months, but the point is the persistence of prayer, absolutely committed. He said to ask and continue asking. I'm sticking to this because this thing is in my heart, and it will not let go. Well, how come it hasn't happened? Stop asking that question. Just persist. Ask and continue asking. Why? Something is being built in you that will make it possible for you to survive the blessing of the Lord. God disciplines us so his blessings don't kill us.”
41s
“Would ever would anyone ever accuse you of absorbing God's word? Would someone ever accuse you of surrendering to God's word in your life? I hope they can. Verse 22, he moves on. Here's the issue. He says, don't merely listen to the word. There it is again. The word. This is the life saving word of life, God's good news. Don't merely listen to the word and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. The literal says, don't be merely hearers of God's word, be doers of God's word.”
49s
“This word blessed, we've looked at it before. Yes, it means happy. Probably deeper it means fulfilled or or or fortunate. And last week, there was a bit of a beatitude. Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial for they will receive the crown of life that God has promised those who love him. That was a future blessing, a future reward. This is different. Don't you see it? This is a blessing that is present for those who do, who put God's word into practice and begin to amend a lifelong process of working on what God reveals. There is blessing in obeying God's word today. It's not just his future blessing.”
44s
“Be slow we are to be quick to listen, which means that's what we run to. Not defensiveness, but we're running in order to listen. We'd be slow to speak, slow to become angry. That doesn't mean never become angry or never be angry. There is righteous and godly anger. But human anger does not promote, according to James, it does not promote or produce the righteousness that God desires. Anger and sin are never far apart. And let's be honest, most of our human anger, least mine, is filled with sin and self importance and ego, intolerance, and stubbornness.”
34s
“The Lord designs us in all aspects of life to discover him. For example, even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil because you are with me. What does that say? There's a measure of his presence that you can only find in the valley of the shadow of death. Every part of life gives access to greater breakthrough. And to have opportunity to, in this environment, to make connection that impacts our life and theirs is a missed opportunity for many.”
