45s
“Like, you don't have to defend your past. You don't have to defend that broken marriage. You don't have to defend your shortcomings. You don't have to defend all the mistakes you've made. You don't have to defend it. What we're called to do is repent of it, to get honest with ourselves, to say that there's some things that I need to evaluate and look at in my life. See, I I love it because Jesus already knows the worst thing about us, and yet he still goes to the cross for us.”
54s
“Now the second son points out that there are folks who spend their lives saying yes, they don't really mean it. Oh, yes. I love Jesus, but, you know, I'm pretty busy. I'm too busy to pray, actually. I'm I'm really too busy to read the Bible. I'm scrolling on my phone all the time. You know, I gotta play Candy Crush. To serve others? Well, I don't know. It means being around people, and I'm kind of shy. To tithe? To tithe? No. No. No. I don't need to give God the first of my money. I'll give him what's left over at the end. Maybe. That's even money. I don't know.”

#JesusIsCloser
“``But Jesus said he would be closer to me than somebody I can touch. I put my hands on him. You know what? That's close. He lives inside me. He's part of me. He's my peace. He's my joy. He's my comforter. He's my healer. He's my savior. Amen. I mean, he's my everything. Amen. And he's always with me. If you don't have Jesus today, don't leave this place without him. I've already said it.”
35s
“Right? It's this understanding that we like to get defensive because it's God tapping us saying, there's some things that might need to change in your life. See, defensiveness is our instinct to protect the image when truth threatens our image. You know, like, it's it's natural to be defensive. But the problem is with the defensiveness keeps us fighting against the very truth that is meant to set us free.”
56s
“It's the power, supernatural power. Acts chapter one eight. There's the Holy Spirit that that empowers the followers to be witnesses in all of the world. It was the Holy Spirit that gave Peter the ability to confront the very people that put Christ on the cross. It's the Holy Spirit that can break your addiction. It's the Holy Spirit that can restore your thinking. It's the Holy Spirit that can give you hope. It's the Holy Spirit that can give you empowerment. It's the Holy Spirit that gives you the power to stay strong in your faith in a culture that doesn't like your faith. It's Holy Spirit, lead me, empower me, and fill me, and refill me every step and every moment of the day.”
54s
“They fail to act. They fail to obey what God is asking them to do. It's interesting that Jesus extols the tax collectors and the prostitutes because they do hear Jesus. They do accept God's authority. They do God's commands. They recognize their sinfulness. They repent. They accept Jesus' forgiveness, and they do his command to sin no more. They change their lives, and they follow Jesus.”
45s
“And you know what else? We're all sinners, every single one of us. Don't forget that even the best acting of us is still a sinner and just as desperately needs the love and grace of God daily to realize heaven's glory. Being right, being good, that's not how you get into heaven. Being forgiven, being humble and obedient before god does. This is the integrity of faithful discipleship.”
44s
“And I thought it was so beautiful how Peter denied Jesus three times and God restored him three times. That Peter denies him three times, yet God restores him three times. I want you to understand that some of you this morning, when you feel stuck, you go back to what's comfortable, but Jesus will always meet us in that very place and call us forward to what he has created us to become. I want you to put this last note in there. Jesus will always reconfirm his call on your life.”
49s
“``And some of us are discouraged because we have empty nets and these empty nets, they they represent empty dreams. They represent empty bank accounts. They represent empty relationships. They represent empty expectations. But I want you to understand this that Jesus often does his greatest work in the moments of our failure and frustration. God is not intimidated by your emptiness. He specializes in filling what is empty. God is not intimidated by your emptiness. He specializes in filling what is empty. And so Jesus, he walks up to Peter and you can imagine Peter doesn't know him and he goes and he goes, hey, listen. Hey, Peter, expert fisherman.”
42s
“And this happens with us a lot in our life. And so I I I if you don't remember anything that I said this morning, remember this. Do not get back on the boat. Don't get back on the boat. Do not get back on the boat because what does the boat do? Because when we feel stuck spiritually, when we feel stuck emotionally or we're not in our purpose, we return back to our old patterns. Peter had walked with Jesus. He had witnessed the miracles. He had heard his calling, but discouragement pulled him back toward the familiar.”
