#PrayerFirstResponse
“And sometimes I gotta believe that God has a greater plan, and God's most important plan for you this morning and for me this morning is his presence. And what happens, we all get a little hurt, we all get a little screwy sometimes when we think or that we're promised that if we pray something, it has to be fulfilled by god. Because scripturally, we find out Paul, Paul the most faith filled man, didn't because God had a greater plan. I think what God wants to teach us is that prayer is often our last resort, and it should be our first response. It's more leaning into this presence moment for god, that prayer is intended to connect to us, to god, unless for him to do our bidding.”

“Why is Paul fighting so hard for this? Why can't he just be okay with them? You know, it's just a small shift in theology, isn't it? To just start, you know, doing the calendar stuff, doing the not eating this kind of meat, not eating this kind of food. Why is he making such a big deal about this? What could seem like a small shift because it's making a shift from Jesus to the practices of the church as the central focus. It's creating religiosity. It's gospel plus and Paul is in so much pain to watch them make the shift. He say you're going back to slavery.”

#DisobedienceHasConsequences
“But also our devotion to God is also connected to our obedience to God. In verse 10, it tells us look what it says. And hath commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods. But he did not keep what the Lord commanded. So Solomon's love for women led him to idol worship. That act in itself was an act of disobedience. Disobedience is a spiritual action. And it doesn't matter as how big the disobedience is. You say, oh, just a little thing. It doesn't matter. When we are disobedient to God, it will bring consequences regardless.”

#TrustGodNotMoney
“Their money can't buy them life after death, but God raises the dead. You see the contrast? Self reliance, God who raises the dead. Which is a better gamble for you? Yourself? You have a hard time not hitting snooze a bunch of times because you just hard to raise yourself up out of bed? That's me. Was like, I don't have the power. It's it's either I trust myself who has a hard time getting up some mornings or trust the God who raises the dead.”

#DontMissGodsCall
“but we had put ourselves in a position and a posture where together we were calling on the name of the Lord, praying, worshiping, listening with faith and expectation, And what do you know, the Lord spoke, and he did things that change and transform us. And so, I'll I'm gonna give you this call. Right? Don't miss out on what the Lord has for you by failing to take time to wait.”

#CovenantWasSigned
“Throughout much of my life, I have consistently heard versions of this idea and versions of this thought that we need to perform. We need to do. We need to do. We need to do so that we can receive this this promised inheritance. But Paul tells us, no. That's not how this works. The will was signed before you arrived. The covenant was settled before you existed. You did not earn your way into it, and you cannot fail your way out of it.”

#PrayerIsConnection
“``Prayer guarantees us connection and not results. I think this is what these three verses begin to teach us. At first value, sometimes we think and we treat god like a genie. Like, here's the stuff I need. I'm gonna pray for him, and he needs to answer him. Because and the reason why we think this is sometimes deep down inside, I think I got it planned out, and my plan is better than what anybody else could plan. But prayer guarantees a connection and not necessarily results.”

#MustardSeedFaith
“Your memento walking out of church today is a mustard seed. little tiny seed is a mustard seed. It's so small you probably can't even see it. But Jesus made the example and illustration is this is all the amount of faith you need to be praying. You don't need a mountain sized amount of faith. Jesus said, if you have even just the smallest amount of faith, can pray, you can believe. God is so much bigger. Thank god it isn't based on what we do or how good we think we are. No. God answers our prayers, and he listens, and his presence is with us because he is good.”

#GodsTimingMatters
“Well, prayer guarantees the connection. See, I believe god's presence is promised, and that's far more valuable to us than the answer that we want in the moment. Now the problem is that's a marathon answer, and that's not the microwave answer. Right? We want something done. Because in the moment, my prayer request does seem holy, does seem honorable, and does seem to be focused on other people. But I don't know the long term play. I'm praying in two d. God's playing in five d.”

#ScriptureFirst
“God does not speak outside of the scriptures. In fact, he uses his word as good, healthy guardrails to make sure we understand his voice correctly. Also then, it's important to know that if somebody tells you something, quote, unquote, from God that is not in the scriptures, don't listen to him. That's also healthy. God speaks through the community of believers. God speaks through the scriptures, but it's counteracted and balanced equally. So if somebody comes and talks to me and says, Brian, I feel like God's told me to tell you something, I'm okay with that. But just know I'm always gonna filter everything through the scripture. I'm not gonna receive anything that anybody says to me from god unless it is filtered through scripture.”
