“I wanna introduce this concept this morning of merciful thorns. You read about the thorn bushes there in verse six. That has just, like, really captured my attention as I studied that in time. You know, I mean, we've all probably got snagged or stuck or pricked by a stupid thorn. Right? Most annoying thing in the world. And it's just but they're there, and it happens to everyone, and it catches your attention. Your whole body's aware. You got pricked. And you're looking at this phrase like there's nothing merciful about thorns. But this is how Hosea combines God's judgment and his mercy together. Is that in God's mercy, he actually throws thorns onto the wrong path that we keep going down. And that's merciful because the thorns are saying, don't cannonball into this thorn bush. Right? That would be worse than getting pricked with the one thorn. So don't cannonball. Don't invest. Don't go all the way into this path of thorns. There's thorns here. This is bad. Go a different way.”
