The faith lesson that I want us to go home with today is that God has a plan. God's plan works, but God has a different economy than we do. We tend to think about power in a certain way, especially as Americans. We are used to being generally the strongest country on the block. In our lifetimes, The United States has been a global superpower. And sometimes we've used that power well. I have to confess that sometimes we maybe have not used our power well. But the worldly understanding of what power is and what our plan should be does not seem to line up with what God is doing.”

You're gonna go free my people from Pharaoh in the mightiest empire in the world. And Moses is like, that's not gonna work.”

Because God is still speaking to us today, are we paying attention?”

“I want you to send a bunch of them home. Can you imagine what Gideon is feeling and thinking? Can you imagine what all the Israelites are thinking? Now, obviously, bunch of them were pretty happy to go home. But seriously, they are living under the Midianites who are much stronger militarily and God's just like, yeah, I don't need all of you. And then there's this weird thing. God says, I only want the guys who drink water a certain way. And it gets down to 300 people. I'm thinking Gideon should do another test at this point because it's like, god, I just wanna check to make sure you're thinking clearly because this doesn't make any sense.”
