Types of churches in Imperial

Imperial Catholic Churches

Long-standing Catholic parishes serve multi-generational families along the Seckman Road and Old Lemay Ferry corridors, offering an active sacramental life and robust religious education. Expect parish festivals and Lenten fish fries that draw neighbors from Arnold to Kimmswick, along with outreach that supports Jefferson County service needs.

Contemporary & Modern Worship

Along the I‑55 and Jeffco Blvd corridor, many congregations feature band-led music, practical teaching, and a casual atmosphere with coffee and kids’ check-in. These churches often livestream services and host small groups in subdivisions around Seckman and Rock Creek, appealing to commuters and young families.

Lutheran Churches (LCMS)

With the St. Louis region’s deep Lutheran roots, LCMS congregations are common around Imperial and nearby Arnold and Barnhart. Services blend liturgy, hymnody, and Bible-centered preaching, supported by confirmation classes and community service tied to Jefferson County. Many sit off Highway 61/67 or near Seckman-area neighborhoods for easy access.

Churches in Imperial for Families

Family-focused congregations emphasize children’s ministry, youth groups, and seasonal events like VBS and trunk-or-treat. Facilities near Seckman schools and along Rock Creek often provide secure kids’ spaces and outdoor areas for picnics or sports, with schedules that fit I‑55 commuters. Many organize service days and park meetups at Mastodon State Historic Site.

#SavedInWestVirginia
“Amen. That was a great day in my life. I hope it was for you as well. 07/29/1998 for me as a a teenage young man at a camp down there in West Virginia. It is true. People can get saved in West Virginia. I'm proof of that. And so, that was an awesome day. I remember. I, you know, I had struggled, with my Salvation Group in church most of my life from a young boy on up. And so I I remember just hearing all the stories. I heard the gospel all the time. I could probably tell other people how to get saved myself, but I had never made the personal decision. I'd been around it. I was told I did it, but I never remembered making that decision myself.”

“``And if Raymond were here today, here's what he'd tell you. You can't buy passion. You can't get a certification in hunger. That that there's not a class you can take for a fresh anointing. That there are some things that are just simply hand delivered. That someone who has something given to them by God extends their hand in faith according to the word of God, and they deposit it into your life, and you're never the same.”

#RaisedMyHandForJesus
“And it bothered me. It bothered me. And, I I said, you know, Lord, I I worried about it for years. Always too ashamed to go forward. And I remember hearing a message that that evening at at camp, You need to take care of this. You need to take care of this. You need to take care of this. And I still remember, during the invitation time, anybody who needs to, you need to trust Jesus Christ as your savior. And I raised my hand. I remember watching my youth pastor do one of these numbers because he was peeking. You know, he was peeking. And he went he was surprised. But I just remember I could take it right to the spot today.”

#GratefulToWorship
“He knows what you need. He knows where you are. He knows what you're going through, and he can help. And just say, Lord, I'm listening. Would you speak to me today very clearly? Let's go, Lord, in prayer. Father, thank you so much for the opportunity to be in church. And, God, it it is a privilege source. Often we take it for granted. We have got so many Christian brothers and sisters right now. They've they've had church in hiding today. They've, had it in their house. They were not able to sing out a song like heaven came down. They had to whisper as they sung for fear of retaliation, for fear of a neighbor turning them into the government. Lord, we're very privileged. I pray, Lord, that we would take advantage of it, that we would not take it for granted. And, Lord, that this service would mean something to us.”

#SavedAndSettled
“``I could take you to the spot where I knelt down and trusted Christ as my savior. It was a wonderful day. And, I was heaven came down in that moment, but the peace, oh my goodness, of just saying it's settled. It's done. It's in the Lord's hands now. I could trust that. And, if you've not experienced that yet in your life, today's the day. Today's the day. No reason to be worried about it anymore. We can get that settled and taken care of today. The scripture is very clear. And, if you've already experienced that, will you remember it and and draw from that today in church?”

#SpiritSoulFlesh
“And he was in our area and came back and taught us wonderful about how God created us and how we ought to manage our our spirit, our soul, and our flesh, and it was so helpful today. If you missed it, you missed it. I don't know what else to tell you. You missed it. But that was a great start to our day, children's classes, things like that. We're gonna get to hear from the choir in just a moment, but, I'm gonna pray and ask for God's help in our service. As I pray, would you pray as well that God would speak to your heart directly?”

“Judges are a dime a dozen. We can find them everywhere. Jaded, scornful people. No problem. Could just throw a rock into the save lot parking lot and hit four of them. No problem. But a a a Christian with a sweet heart and a soft spirit and forgiving attitude and a, look, I know you messed up and there might be some consequences but I'm with you and God hasn't given up on you yet and we're gonna try again. That's hard to find.”

“It it ought to be a distinguishing mark of the Christian that they're not gonna give up on you, that they're gonna love you, that they're gonna understand, they're gonna give you another chance, they're gonna be they're gonna be merciful. And mercy, by its definition in the generic sense, is you are not getting what you do deserve. Grace and mercy are kinda like flip sides of each other. Grace is getting something you don't deserve. We'll never deserve salvation. Salvation is the wonderful bridge of both of those things. Salvation is what we get even though we don't deserve it, And hell is what we don't get by God's mercy even though we do deserve it. A”

“Maybe we need to start writing down some of the things that God has given us another chance on. And I understand you've gotta protect yourself. Someone stole from you, you know, don't give me your money again. Don't don't have I understand those things. We're not God gave us a brain. But the way we write people off, the way we we treat them as they're worthless, God says blessed are the merciful. The only way I'm gonna get to that place is I have gotta cultivate that through remembrance of what Jesus has done for me. There's really no other example I need in my life. He's the best one. He's the most powerful one. I'll just go to him.”

Why Imperial churches are unique

Set along the Mississippi River bluffs and near Mastodon State Historic Site, churches in Imperial often reflect the area’s outdoorsy, close-knit character. Congregations lean into hands-on community service and seasonal river-town rhythms, organizing projects that support neighbors during storms and celebrating with family-friendly gatherings. Look for community disaster relief teams, serve teams for local needs, and outdoor family events and picnics.
As a suburban hub for St. Louis commuters with many households in the Fox C-6 School District, Imperial churches prioritize practical schedules and strong family discipleship. Many offer a blend of contemporary and traditional expressions alongside clear Bible teaching to meet varied preferences across generations. You’ll often find strong kids programs for young families, modern worship with contemporary band, and expository Bible teaching.
Rooted in blue-collar grit and small-town hospitality, the faith community values authenticity, service, and taking care of one another. This shows up in multi-generational leadership, support for those navigating recovery or economic stress, and accessible gatherings for shift workers. Common hallmarks include multi-generational church congregations, recovery and support groups, and weekday evening services for commuters.
