“You know, some days we just need a wake up call. There's so many times I go through my week and then I at the end of the week, you look up and I go, how much time did I spend with my wife? You know, did I did I did I hug her? Did did we talk meaningfully? Did we spend just personal time together? Because if you let light take over, it's gonna take over. It will take over everything in your life. You have to fight for almost everything. And sometimes we need a little bit of a wake up call because nobody wants to come home and have their spouse say to them, I just don't know you anymore. Or to say to them, I've fallen out of love with you. We none of us want that. And yet we've heard the stories. We've seen it in the families and friends that we know. And if we don't want that to happen to us, then what we need to do is fight for those marriages.”

“Jesus was right when he identified the most important command as love the lord your god with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength. Without god, we're fearful. Without god, our souls are dead. But with god, we live, and we live fearlessly, victoriously, confident in god's keeping, at peace in god's embrace, comforted in all of our struggles by god's presence. Today's gospel lesson is telling us that our human worth in god's eyes is incalculable. Every hair on our head has been counted. It's a little easier for some of us than others. What a marvelous expression of how the goodness of god is reflected in god's total concern for our well-being. Can you not buy two sparrows for a penny, Jesus tells his followers? And yet not one of them falls to the ground without god knowing. You are worth more than hundreds of sparrows. You and I, Jesus is telling us, are worth more in god's eyes than anything in all creation.”

“gente não precisa da energia da Terra. A gente tem a energia do céu. A gente tem a força do céu. A gente é dirigido pelo céu I got a bye heaven. Todos os dias. Existem pessoas falando no nosso telefone dando direções. a gente tem a direção do céu. Nós seremos como o vento. Nós vamos soprar onde Deus quer. Nós vamos ser divididos pelo vento. O vento de Deus está nos conduzindo. O vento de Deus está nos renovando. O vento de Deus está nos fortalecendo nessa manhã. O vento de Deus está direcionando novos caminhos. O espírito santo quer fazer morada dentro da gente. 000 espírito santo quer tocar outras pessoas a partir de nós. Nós não vamos viver em 1 ambiente pesado.”

“Notice when Jesus says this or when Paul says this, Paul's not saying, I'm doing this so that they might behave better someday. He's not saying that someday, I hope that I can have such a profound effect on my neighbors that they pull their pants up and wear a belt, and I will no longer see their undergarments. Was that Paul's hope? Paul didn't say, you know what? Someday, I'm gonna have such a great influence on my neighbor that maybe they'll stop using swear words. Maybe they'll pick their own dog's stuff up out of my yard. Maybe they'll get rid of the third parked car in the driveway that they don't ever use that's broken down. No. Paul isn't talking about the earthly things, is he? Paul says that I live a certain way so that I may win them to Christ.”

“The heart of generosity is sacrifice. I remember one time I was reading through the book of second Samuel and and there's this plague going on in the nation of Israel David, King David goes to the to the prophet and what should I do? This pray plague is is just devastating. It's like COVID. You know, it's like going over. Everybody's dying. David goes, what should we do? And and the prophet calls and he seeks god and he says, I want you to go and I want you to to build an altar and I want you to give a sacrifice. So, king David in in second Samuel chapter 24 goes to a guy named Aaronah And he says, I wanna buy your threshing floor, kinda like his barn. And I wanna build an altar and I wanna sacrifice to God because God told me to to make a sacrifice and give an offering. And and Aaron assist him. He says, hey, David. You can have a king. It's yours and listen to what David says. No, I insist on paying for it. I will not sacrifice to the lord, my god, an offering that cost nothing.”

“And I thought it was so beautiful how Peter denied Jesus three times and God restored him three times. That Peter denies him three times, yet God restores him three times. I want you to understand that some of you this morning, when you feel stuck, you go back to what's comfortable, but Jesus will always meet us in that very place and call us forward to what he has created us to become. I want you to put this last note in there. Jesus will always reconfirm his call on your life.”

“And it seems that he was riding along in the cattle car sitting next to an older rabbi. together, they were they were basically comforting each other, and and Isaac and the rabbi were reading psalms in Hebrew to one another. And the rabbi was reading some of the psalms and Isaac reading some of the psalms. And finally, Isaac, according to this testimony, Isaac was leaning on the shoulder of the rabbi reading psalms who and he was reading psalms when Isaac died. They were familiar with Isaac's faith, and so they understood that he was sharing the gospel with people in the police station, in the cattle car, and all the way throughout. And so it's it's a wonderful story of hope. It it it does it comforts me to no end to know that God had his people placed so that they could share the gospel with Jewish people who were about to perish so mercilessly.”

“Now listen, I know this is a strange story, but I think it is a perfect example of what many of us are going through right now. I have literally prayed this to God myself. God, I am not gonna let you go until you heal my son. I am gonna continue to fight. I'm gonna continue to believe. I'm gonna continue to walk in faith. But I want you to see in Jacob's darkest moment, at night wrestling with God was the time where he got his name changed from Jacob to Israel. By the way, the word Israel, the name Israel means God prevails. every time someone said his name now, he was reminded God prevails in my life. God prevails in my life. Now, I'm not encouraging you to change your name to Israel today, but I'm speaking that over you that God prevails in your life. Let's give God a round of applause.”

“Here we see a miracle. It seems that that miracle births are a recurring theme throughout scripture. We're shown over and over people cannot get pregnant for one reason or another and then bam, God just shows up and does something amazing. But why do we see this theme over and over take place in scripture? Well, for two reasons. One is to showcase that the promises of God are not one with human effort. Right? The the covenant is not accomplished by means of of man's power, it's accomplished through God's grace alone. God is the one doing this. And and what's been impossible, obviously, that man can't do anything about it. He's powerless. God is not powerless. God is able. Secondly, I believe that as we read these stories, God is preparing humanity at large for what's coming. He's letting all creation know that he is God and there is nothing impossible for him.”
