“But this morning, what we're reminded of is, as we bring our lives in the view of God creating us in his image, and in view of his mercies, of his redeeming work in our lives, of his grace that has forgiven us and freed us from sin, and freed us for for life, freed us from the power of sin and death. We offer back to God our lives as a living sacrifice saying, God, thank you for how you've created me. Now help me to live fully into the way that you've created me. To live fully into the way that I have been wired. And so many people in this world are trying to fill somebody else's shoes instead of filling their own. Amen?”

#SpiritualDecisionMaking
“Teenagers if they don't learn how to think spiritually through things, how to make decisions spiritually through things, they're not gonna have conviction when it matters. They're not gonna be able to stand up to their friends when it matters. They're not gonna have their own godly principles when it matters. They'll obey while the parents are around but when they're with their friends, all that goes out the window. And many young adults walk away from faith because they were forced into things to follow rules and those sorts of things but they never learned how to personally walk with Christ and the coaching process has to prepare them for adulthood.”

“And I'm reminded today that your life will always be muted until you give it all up to him. Amen. Your life will be muted until you give it up. You have, you know, you have a mute button on your TV. Right? You know, and, of course, when we think of being muted, we don't always think of the sound completely gone. You might say, that was muted. I couldn't hear it very well. It was just kinda I couldn't quite catch it. And I am reminded this morning, our lives will be muted until we give them up, until we allow them to be a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, that it would be given to him.”

“So our our life song isn't meant to be sung solo. Our life song is meant to join a choir of voices. That's why we're here this morning. Right? And as we sing, literally sing, we also sing in other ways. As your voices all combine to sing the songs that we sing each Sunday, your lives are all combining to sing a song that the world hears and that reflects the very love of God.”

#RaiseIndependentFaith
“the goal of parenting is not to raise a child that's primarily dependent upon you. They need to learn how to live for themselves. At some point, a child has to learn to pray without you. To seek god without being forced, To stand on truth without supervision. Right? To follow Christ because their faith becomes personal to them. And I will tell you as I've watched a lot of teenagers shift from high school to college, how many of them leave the faith? You know why? They never knew their faith before they ever left.”

#CommanderToCoach
“We have to shift our thinking from commander to coach. So many times, this is a hard shift for parents because they wanna command everything in their child's lives and instead they need to start switching to becoming a coach. Right? And this isn't talking about just letting them do whatever they want. This isn't what this is about. Teenagers need boundaries, they need accountability, they need correction, they need consequences, structure, all that leadership, but our methods have to change.”

#CoachCantPlayForYou
“Think about it like this, a good athlete can play the game, but a coach can't play it for them. They have to go out on the field themselves. You know, I think of my son in in football and the coach keeps telling them what to do and explaining to them how to do it and coaching them through it, but he cannot get on the field with them. He cannot go and make the play. He can't make the pass. He can't make the catch. He can't make the run. He can't stop. He can't tackle somebody. He can't do any of those things.”
