Contemporary Deerfield Churches

Modern worship with live bands, practical teaching, and casual dress is common, especially near the Lake‑Cook Road corridor and Waukegan Road where parking is easy. These churches often offer livestreams and multiple Sunday options to fit Metra commuters from the Deerfield station and professionals working in nearby office parks.

Historic & Liturgical

Traditional congregations emphasize structured liturgy, choir or organ music, and a reverent pace. Many are long‑established near Deerfield’s village center and along Deerfield Road, drawing multi‑generation North Shore families who value sacramental life and the church calendar.

Service-Oriented Congregations

Service‑minded churches partner with local efforts such as the West Deerfield Township Food Pantry and PADS Lake County. You’ll see food, coat, and school‑supply drives, plus volunteer days tied to community events like Deerfield Family Days or cleanups along the Des Plaines River Trail and nearby forest preserves.

#TrustGodsSovereignty
“And as unsettling as that may be, have you ever thought about how unsettling the alternative would be? maybe we're living in a world where there's no being powerful enough to put a stop to evil? That evil runs rampant in our day precisely because God's up there trying his best, but isn't quite strong enough to pull it off? Who would ever wanna pray to a God like that? What would be the point? No, no. If I've got a god who's big enough for me to be mad at because he's not doing something about the evil in the world, then I also have a god big enough that he could at least possibly have a morally justifiable reason for allowing all this suffering and delaying putting a stop to death that I don't know about. True? It's at least possible. Isn't at least possible that he has reasons that I'm not wise enough to understand?”

“And so one final word. I I know this is not easy to accomplish. You have to spend time really getting to know Jesus, getting close to Jesus, to to have the mind of Christ, and to have Christ fully living in you. I must say I have experienced it in my life in different ways. Not that I I constantly abide in Christ 100% of the time, but there there have been times in my life when I'm focused on Jesus Christ, I'm focused on his word, and all I wanna do as I'm focusing on his word is to share that with other people. There's so much stuff coming out of you that you wanna get it out and and and share it with other people around you, teach it, to preach it.”

“The fruits of the spirit are love and joy and peace and patience and kindness and goodness and faithfulness and gentleness and self control. And if what you have to offer doesn't have that spirit, it's not from the river. When the world is cruel, your answer is kindness. When the world is impatient and furious, your answer is patience and forbearance. When the world is arrogant, your answer is gentleness and self control.”

#ComeAndSeeInvite
“But part of it is being open to come and see, to be seen, and then to invite others to come and see. Because here's the deal, friend, sometimes you may be the only person that will invite somebody into a relationship with Jesus. You might be the only person that invites somebody to worship or to an event or something off-site or anything. You might be the very person, the only person, the essential person that someone's looking for to be able to begin a relationship in God's love and grace. Right? Did you ever think about that? Hello? Right? Have you? You may be the only person, and if you're reluctant to ask, if you're reluctant to say, come and see, you don't have to have a perfect invitation. If you don't offer come and see, that might be the missed opportunity for that person who's in sadness or depression or looking for a place to serve or is longing for sacred community. We spent all week this week in this regional meeting. Do you know we talked so much about isolation and loneliness? Do you know it's an epidemic? And so the reality is people across our communities are lonely and and they're longing for somebody to say, come and see.”

#ComeToTheLamb
“And yet, in all these different forms of caves that we go to hide ourselves in to do anything other than turn to the lamb, I think we're meant here to see the irony that this was never how it was intended to be. We're not supposed to be hiding in caves from the lamb. A a lamb is is a child's pet. lamb is bloody here with his own blood shed for you because precisely he didn't want you to have to go hide in the caves from him. He wanted you to fall before him and worship and then be accepted into his family.”

#GodWillEndSuffering
“And he will, friend. I I wouldn't spend another Sunday climbing up here on this stage to talk to you about Jesus if he was the sort of God who is going to watch evil being done and murders happening and genocides taking place and rape, and abuse, and all the things that we see in our world today, and that he if he was gonna stand by and watch it forever, I wouldn't waste your time. He wouldn't be worth worshiping. He wouldn't be a good god, but he won't let it go. He hasn't forgotten any of it. Just hang on a little longer, and the suffering that he has permitted will come to an end.”

#EndureToTheEnd
“Yes, there are images that are unfamiliar to us, these bizarre beasts and many eyed creatures and dragons in a cube shaped city, so it can be overwhelming on a first read. But actually, if we don't let ourselves get distracted by the shiny objects and the minutia, we find that it's written such that his main message comes through crystal clear, and that main message is, endure to the end. Like, hang in there. God's still on his throne. He's gonna bring an end to all the evil in this world. No pain that you are presently experiencing is going to last forever. It all has an expiration date, and God has already scheduled that expiration date.”

#ChooseTheLamb
“Fortunately, in order to ride alongside Jesus in battle, in order to take communion and share in this family meal, you you don't have to be some kind of mighty spiritual hero like the ones we sung about in the last song. You don't have to be some kind of exemplary Christian to be numbered among the conquerors in this story of Revelation. You just have to choose the lamb and then endure.”

#StepByFaith
“Endure by taking one imperfect step in faith. And then if he doesn't come back before you take the next one, take another step. Imperfect, but another step in faith. And then one more, and then one more empowered by the Holy Spirit, the same Holy Spirit who authored revelation until king Jesus comes back to take us home.”

#GodHasMyBack
“When someone has your back, when you know someone is behind you, protecting you, you can let down your defenses a little bit. You can dare to be happy to go into battle. And as great as my friend Miguel wasn't protecting me, I gotta tell you, God is a lot better. He's not just a head taller than us. He is a whole universe bigger than us, and he is the only one who is able to fully protect you. You want him on your side. when he does protect you, when you think about the fact that God is on your side, it brings a joy that that, yes, though things are hard, I have a protector. Though I am stretched beyond my limits, I have a sustainer who has no limits. He will keep me to the end. That's a happy thought.”
