#AllAuthorityInChrist
“Very first thing that we need to highlight comes right in verse Jesus came to them, and he said this, all what? Authority. All authority had been given to me. The authority of heaven, which means I govern all of the spirits that have ever been created by God, are under my authority. And on earth, everything you created, Paul takes it this way. He says, everything in heaven and earth, invisible and visible, has all been created, not just through God, he specifies it through Jesus Christ our Lord. Jesus is highlighting that right here to them. Guys, pull it in. I want you to know before I tell you what I'm about to tell you, you need to understand something. All authority has been given to me.”

#ObeyGodNow
“His two words do it, he was telling him obey God. Do what God has told you to do, Solomon. In this case, immediately was to build the temple. But I believe that David's also challenging Solomon to put these other words of advice that he has given him into practice. Know God, serve God, seek God, build the temple, yes, but obey God. Isn't it true that it's one thing to listen to good advice, and it's another thing to do it. You know, parents, you could give all the advice that you can possibly give to your children. You can even have a conversation and say, look at me when I'm talking to you. Did you hear that? Sometimes it's wives looking at husbands and and saying that. You can you can hear all kinds of advice. It's a whole another thing to follow through and do it, isn't it? To obey God? You know, God's word gives us a lot of instruction, and it's good to read and listen to God's word, but we must obey what we read.”

#FromBelieverToDisciple
“Yeah. I like the cow the Cowboys, Dallas Cowboys, my favorite NFL football team. You can judge it. You can hate it. I don't really care about your opinion on the matter right now. Because right now, we're all tied for first. You know what I mean? We're all tied for first place. But I'm not a Dallas Cowboy, am I? There's a difference between believing in the team and being a part of it. And that's what Jesus is trying to get us to understand, is that when we go into all of these nations, and we start making these disciples, we need to transform them from being believers to being disciples. What is a disciple? These guys are hardcore apprentices. They live, they talk, they walk, they act, they carry the message of whoever it is that they're following, and they promote that to the world. That is a disciple.”

#LegacyOfDiscipleship
“It changed the game for everybody because as Moody started to grow up, he had influence over somebody, and this his name was Dwight L. Moody. And as Moody grew up, he influenced the next generation, who then influenced the next generation, and you can see the line from Edward's ministry as a Sunday school teacher for about the next six generations, all the way from Edward down to one of the most prominent Christian theologian pastors of our time, Billy Graham. And if it wasn't for the influence of this one guy named Edward, Billy Graham and his ministry may have never taken place. Now, you probably have heard of the name Billy Graham because he's one of the the, like, the best national Christian speakers that we've ever known. In fact, his material, his ministry has gone on to reach, like, billions on b with a b, billions of people worldwide, and that all started with the influence of this guy named Edward Kimball.”

#KnowGodFirst
“``As I said earlier, we're not going to go into great detail on the passage today, but I want you to take note of this advice that David gives here to son his son Solomon. David was not a perfect man by any chance, by any stretch. He was not a perfect father by any stretch. But David had some important priorities that he wanted to give as advice to his son, and we will do well today to listen. His advice can be summarized in four two word phrases. First of all, he said to Solomon, And let me just pause right here and say, fathers, if you have no other advice for your children, this is the advice you need to give them, to know God.”

#DiscipleshipEqualsObedience
“But here's the trick. What are we teaching disciples to do? What's the end game here? It's this. Teach them to obey. Teach them everything. Teach them to observe all that I have commanded you, and behold, I am with you to the end of the day. So he says, teach them to observe, which is basically obeying what Jesus has commanded. See, there's a difference between being a believer and being a disciple. A believer is somebody who just hears it. A disciple is someone that says, I wanna apply this to my life. And we can only teach people to do that when we have real relationships.”

#ServeFromTheHeart
“David served or Solomon served God with a loyal heart, served God with a willing mind, and don't forget God knows your heart and he knows your mind. So even if you don't follow through with the actions or even if sometimes our actions are not a true reflection of what our heart and our mind are saying, are they? It's like the little boy whose parent told him to sit down, and he was rebelling against it. And finally, he sat down and he said, I'm sitting down on the outs outside, but I'm standing up on the inside. And sometimes that's the way we are with God, isn't it? David was telling him, serve God with a loyal heart and a willing mind.”

#ShowGodInLife
“If you're going to advise your children to know the god of your father, then you need to be following and serving the right god. Know and show. The first piece of David's advice to Solomon was know god. David's desire was that Solomon would have a personal relationship with god through Jesus Christ. And, again, that should be any parent's greatest desire is to be able to lead their children to a relationship through faith in Jesus Christ. advice to your children, fathers, should first of all be, know God. But don't just tell them about God. Show them God in your life, how they can have that relationship.”

“Are there places I might go that I know I'm going to be more tempted to do something wrong than if I don't go? Well, that's watching. Watching where I go. Are there some things that if I do, are there some people if I hang around, I'm more inclined to do wrong things than if I don't hang around them? Watch and pray that you have the strength to avoid the situations that lead you into temptation and go back and follow God.”

“I need daily bread, but I sure would like to have filet mignon. I need a place to live, but I sure would like that mansion on the hill. I need a car in this world. I need a car to drive around. Why not a Lamborghini? I mean, it's one thing to pray for our needs. It's another thing to say, okay, God, I'm getting a little bit selfish here. Be honest.”
