And so it says here, he's telling them that, you know, I'm I was proclaiming the testimony about God because I had resolved to know nothing while I was with you, the Corinthians, except I wanted to know nothing. I wanted to hear no other distractions, no other voices, but to focus on Jesus Christ and him crucified.

But my whole point being here is we get to choose. We actually get to pick what we want. We get to recognize what the scripture said, and we get to adjust our lives to meet the scriptures instead of adjusting the scriptures to meet our lifestyle. And it's freeing. Let me tell you, I would not be preaching this if I was putting you in handcuffs or putting you on the torture bed or whatever it is. No. I'm sharing this with you because I'm telling you it's extremely exhilarating and freeing.

Things like attending church, walking down an aisle, saying a prayer, getting baptized, being confirmed, becoming a member of a church, owning a Bible, do not make you a Christian and they do not save you. They can be good things, but apart from Jesus, don't miss this, apart from Jesus, they have no power. They are meaningless. They mean nothing. They can't save you apart from Jesus. Only Jesus can.

He's going to do it, but he's not gonna do it now. Don't try to make God into who you need him to be. You need to be who God wants you to be. So my second question for you this morning is this, do you want to be what God wants you or to do for you, Or do you want God to do what it is you want?

And listen to me. Love, relationship, business, it works best when God is placed at the very head of it, not when he is invited later. Let me say that again. Love, relationship, business, any type of relationship, it always works better when God is not invited later, but he is placed first.

The only way you will experience the promise of unity is if you are intertwined with the body. Amen. Amen. This means you're not competing against others Amen. But you're connecting with them. For you to have more support or be more productive, you must get connected or intertwined with other people where you each strengthen each other.

He said, you can hold fast to your hope of eternal life. You can hold fast to your hope of forgiveness. You can hold fast to your hope of your future. And he didn't say just hold it. He said, hold it fast. He said, hold it without wavering. Hold it without compromise. Why? Because of something you've done? No. No. Because of something in you? No. Why? Because the one who has promised that he's faithful. And because he's faithful, he said we can hold fast to the promises that he makes.

There's only one person in all of human history who ever met every one of these qualifications in perfection. You know who it was? Not you. Not me. Jesus. Jesus met every qualification for you. He was the perfect shepherd for you. And then, out of his grace, he paid the sinner's price for you, and he's offered you a glorious exchange, all the sin for all his righteousness.

What he is saying here is that you can be a great speaker or a brilliant theologian or a generous philanthropist or even a martyr, but without love, God's spiritual math adding up everything that you've done equals zero. Nada. Nothing. Right? It's like a car with a beautiful frame, a full tank of gas, a well working GPS, but no engine. It may look good, but it goes nowhere.

Jesus comes, let me say, looking for us just like this man. We were not searching for god. We were in our tombs. We were bind up. We were broken. We were, bound up by sin. We're lost. We are wondering. We were dead in our sin, and yet Jesus came to where we were. Amen. Thank god. In our salvation issue, I'm glad that Jesus stepped on the scene. We couldn't save ourselves. We couldn't fix ourselves but when Jesus came on the scene, thank god we can get born again by the grace of god.
