The Bible's most stunning and powerful encounters with God almost always look like humans getting their eyes off of themselves and on to him. He does not adjust his desires to appease us. It's the opposite. People see God in his realm and in his way. And they change in response. We are too consumed with following our own ways and trusting our own wisdom because our eyes are on ourselves. So when God shows up and turns the tables and changes the game, the solution that he's bringing in those moments is a vision of his glory and his holiness.
