He is warning us that following him will not always be easy. If you are looking for a surface piece where everybody gets along, you're not going to find it in following Jesus. He said, Do you think that I have come to bring peace to the earth? No, I tell you, but rather division. Following Jesus, following God's will, as Jesus did, will sometimes lead to conflict, even with the people closest to us.
