Jarvis Street Baptist Church has its origins in a small group of people who first gathered in October of 1818, in what was then York, Upper Canada. In 1875, we moved to our current location at the intersection of Jarvis St and Gerrard St.
We gladly avow that God created men and women for the praise of His glory. Our congregation seeks to glorify the Lord with special emphasis on worship, the Christian walk, and witness. We delight in the 66 books composing Scripture (God’s inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word) as the supreme and final authority to define both belief and behaviour. JSBC subscribes to the Five Solas: sola Scriptura (Scripture alone); sola gratia (grace alone); solus Christus (Christ alone); sola fide (faith alone); and soli Deo gloria (to God alone be glory).
