Balaam arrives to visit the king with a new perspective. He's following a new authority. He's no longer making decisions based on what someone powerful says or on what what he's going to get in return, or how strong and awesome it makes him look. Balaam has had his eyes open to the true spiritual reality of God's greatness and God's might, and he submits to that authority.
