There is a danger and it's a danger that really good church people fall into quite a bit. And that's the danger of presumed proximity. You see, there are these times times that we go through the motions of being close to God. We show up in times of worship and we show up in times of service. We go through the motions of intimacy with God and like the people in the gospel lesson, and we say, Lord, we ate and drank with you. You preached in our streets. Lord, we know you. You know us. But it's presumed proximity.
