I am convinced that the most broken, the most hurting, the most sinful, most ugly people in the world—oh church, help me—they don’t need us yelling about how bad they are. Because you know what I found? They just yell back. Have you found that? You yell at somebody, they yell back. You fight with somebody, they fight back. Isn’t that interesting? When you do this, and you just hold them, as much as a person will let you, it’s amazing how disarming that is, and how God moves in and starts to work in people’s lives.
